What's Your Intention for 2020?

I still remember when I was just 7 years of age thinking and feeling... Wow, 2020 feels like a lifetime away and we were told that the invention of flying cars will be out by then in Malaysia. Lol! In reality, 2020 came SO FAST! Faster than FLASH himself. (faster than the so-called flying cars that are not out just yet)

For those of you who know me, you know I have a type-A personality, where it's all about being the perfectionist in everything I do and I am a goal-orientated gal. This is definitely something I inherited from Papa & Mama Pillay.

4 years ago, LIFE showed me that you can achieve every goal that you set and still be unhappy and have it washed away in seconds right in front of you like a tsunami. So I've had to start over on a truly clean slate.. sweeping away the Good, Bad & Ugly at one go. This experience made me introspect and it raised lots of questions which required me to tweak my belief system and had me look deeper into LIFE and I started learning the art of FLOWING & SURRENDERING to the universe/higher consciousness. (maybe I’ll write about this on a different blogpost)

After having a chat with my business coach, I decided to experiment a new way to start each year, which was to have a theme/intention to set the tone for the year instead of just a resolution. (which I’ve been doing for years) I've honestly never felt more ALIVE gais, and so many positives and great lessons have come from that small but significant shift in my life. #GayaIsGrateful

When I started setting and living my intentions/theme for the year, it allowed me to:

  • Recognize and live in the current moment.

  • Raise my emotional and physical energy as I build momentum.

  • Create a prompt for how I want to live each day.

  • Live in peace with my purpose/theme at most times.

  • Create amazing memories, adventures - which perhaps wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Instead of setting resolutions that can easily come and go, try setting intentions that will help you live as the best version of yourself every single day.

TRY THIS! (Part 1)

Take today, tomorrow or this weekend to sit and reflect on what part of your life are most important to you. Ask yourself these questions listed below and be open to the answer that comes out.

  1. Who are you?

  2. What do you really want?

  3. What's your mission?

  4. How can you serve the world?

  5. Who are your idols?

  6. What's important to you?

  7. What brings you the greatest joy?

  8. What fuels your fire?

  9. What fills you with a sense of purpose?

Know yourself, be authentic

At Wanderlust they wrote :

“Life is not a pre-fix menu. It’s a mystery that unfolds every single day. We don’t have control over what obstacles life throws in our path, but we can control our actions. By setting intentions and keeping them close, we can facilitate the path that we choose.

Setting intentions directs the mind and gives us purpose. When we lose sight of our purpose, a void is created and we can easily stray off our path. Focusing on your heart and what’s important to you creates clarity and self-discovery devoting you to finding your dharma.” WORD!

Find what brings you joy.

So let’s get to it. Here is a method I used and learned from Gabby Bernstein as seen below.

Give it a go. It's quite fun.

GET READY! (Part 2)

SURRENDER AN INTENTION WITH A UNIVERSE BOX by Gabby Bernstein.

"I’ve been teaching this practice for many years. It facilitates spiritual surrender and manifesting" she says.

  • Step 1 is to create a Universe box. This can be anything from a shoebox to a glass or wooden box, it doesn’t matter. You can use something you already have or get crafty.

  • Step 2 is to write your desire on a piece of paper and put it in your Universe box. By doing this you’re surrendering your desire to the care of the Universe.

  • Step 3 takes place a week later, so set a reminder for yourself. After one week, take your desire out of the Universe box and safely burn it (I suggest doing this over a sink). Burning the desire shows that you trust it’s being taken care of. Surrender your desire and know that your request is being heard.

Seen below is an image of My Tribe and I setting our themes for 2020 together online. I decided to share what I've learnt over the years with my #fitfam #tribe

We had a blast setting our intentions and themes together and can't you just tell and feel that positive energy oozing out from that photo. lol. Good Vibes. I'm rooting for you ladies.

REMEMBER THIS! (Part 3)

It's never too late to start and set your intention and theme for the year. So what if it's the middle of January 2020. It's just a date. The important thing is YOU START.

You have the freedom and the power to become whoever you want to be.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and feel free to share your intentions/ themes and I'll send over some good vibes to you.

You're not alone.

I got you.

Gaya.
